3 Stripes!

My son is in Tiny Tigers Taekwando (he’s 4), and is currently a white belt. He gets to test for his orange belt at the end of this month, but today he received his 3rd stripe for knowing a move they call Mom,Dad,Grandmaster (effectively high block, low block and punch) and Baloney Sandwich (muscle arm block, side kick and knife hand strike). It’s very cool that he has been able to pick this up so rapidly. When he first started it seemed like a daunting task to learn his first form, plus these two other items, but now he’s a pro. He can do his first form himself (highblock, focus punch, front kick low block, step and punch, muscle arm block, side kick, knife hand strike, turn and punch) and it will be neat to watch him test for Orange belt. I can’t wait!

Lazy Sunday, wake up in the late afternoon…

Ughh, another Sunday is here. Sunday is probably my least favorite day of the week, even more than Monday. I never like doing anything on Sunday, because it always tainted by the fact that Monday is almost here. You could be out having the time of your life somewhere and still in the back of your mind is that little niggling thought that tomorrow the grind starts again.

Sunday is just a day to get things done around the house. My wife and kids leave pretty early to go to church, and then they go out to eat with my in laws afterward, which means I usually have from 10 until 1 or 2 to get things done. Normally that means I have time to get laundry done, and get the house picked up. I lead a rock star lifestyle, what can I say.

We’ve got a nice little Saturday planned. We’re going to go to Home Depot…

Thank goodness it’s the weekend. I could use the downtime. Today is the first day of soccer and we’re taking my 4 year old to get him signed up. I’m pretty excited about him starting soccer. He also starts Taekwondo on Thursday, which is pretty neat. I found this site that sells the karate kid gui from the movie. I told my wife that if he sticks with it, I’m going to buy it for him to wear. I think it would be sweet to see him in a tournament in that thing. Of course I would stand on the sidelines and yell “Sweep the leg!”

It just makes me think how much older he is getting already, and how much he has grown in 4 short years. I still remember the cuddly little baby he was, and now he’s getting ready for preschool and will soon quit thinking it’s “cool” to hang out with mom and dad. Anyway, I better go get ready. Hey, this is my first attempt at a blog.  So for those of you who know me, hi, for those of you who don’t let me tell you who I am.  I’m 32, married, and I have 3 kids.  I work as a software engineer, and I lead a pretty average and normal life.  I decided to start writing a blog because I always seem to have random thoughts and things running through my head, and thought it would be cool to keep track of my life.

At this point, things are pretty crazy.  My kids are 4 and 2(set of twins), and keep my wife and I pretty busy.  I love being a father and thought that blogging might be a good way to write down things about my life now, that I may want to remember in another 30 years.  I figure I can use this space to record the crazy crap that happens in my life.

Anyway, that’s enough for a first post.  I hope you come back often because I plan on adding a lot more content.
